Baird McNutt: Helping Businesses Lower Their Carbon Footprint

Baird McNutt produces linen fabrics mainly for the apparel and furnishing markets. Given the significant energy demands of textile processing, especially in bleaching and dyeing, they sought a dependable energy solution that would both cut costs and decrease their carbon footprint. Prior to their switch to LPG, the steam that was used in the processing was generated from coal boilers, before then switching to heavy fuel oil in the 1990s.
Since converting their steam boilers to run on LPG, Baird McNutt has had immediate energy cost savings of 12% in less than two years. As well as this they have reduced their carbon footprint by 20% in less than a year.
Clifford Barr, General Manager at Baird McNutt said: “it’s a cleaner fuel, it’s reducing our co2 and that is very important for our own company and also for the people we supply”.
