Renewable Liquid Gas Industry
What we know
- As many as 36% of off-grid homes could face technical and financial challenges with installing a heat pump.
- 69% of rural consumers said they would not be able to afford a heat pump and the required energy efficiency upgrades.
- The Government recognises not all homes will be suitable for a heat pump.
Serving rural communities
The LPG market has a strong foundation in servicing off the gas-grid homes and the households that our industry serves are largely located in rural areas. Due to these buildings’ fabric and constraints around rural electricity networks, there is a risk that these properties will be left behind on the journey to Net Zero.
Renewable Liquid Gases – such as bioLPG and rDME – can provide a 92% carbon saving compared to oil, and up to 90% compared to conventional LPG – providing a viable decarbonisation pathway for Britain’s off-grid properties.
BioLPG can be seamlessly ‘dropped-in’ to existing supply chains and can be used by consumers in their existing heating appliances, stored in existing bulk tanks and cylinders without any modifications, and transported using today’s infrastructure and skilled workforce, with little or no cost to the consumer.
